Our restaurant, "konoba" TONI is situated in
a building over three hundred years old. Large cellars at ground level
(called "konoba") were originally used to process and store goods: wine,
olive oil, vegetables, salted meats, etc. |
|
Our "konoba" still has wine barrels and machines
and tools used to store produce. |

|
Most of the smaller tools formerly
used in the konoba are still hung on the walls inside. Larger items are
displayed outside on the terrace. Here we see a typical manpowered olive
press, made in 1878. |
|
|
30 years ago, we turned our "konoba" into a restaurant.
However, we took care to minimize any alterations, in order to preserve
the authentic look and feel of the building. |

|
The rest of the village Dol, and also the entire
island of Brač, add to the rustic ambient. However, rapid growth is endangering
the autenthicity of the island's old towns and villages, enforcing new
architecture and look. |
